Preventative Injectables Treatments

When it comes to most things in life, prevention is better than cure. And cosmetic injectables are no exception! Our range of treatments can be used carefully to decrease the formation of many signs of ageing, including fine lines, wrinkles and loss of volume.

Today we will explain the different types of lines and wrinkles and how injectables can be used as a preventative treatment for best results now and into the future.

Types of Wrinkles

Expression lines in areas such as the forehead, frown, crow’s feet and smile line areas are often one of the first signs of ageing we notice. They usually begin as fine lines that are only visible when the expression is being made. Once the emotion passes and your face is relaxed, they disappear. These are referred to as ‘dynamic wrinkles’.

Dynamic wrinkles include:

  • Frown lines

  • Forehead wrinkles

  • Crow’s Feet

  • Smile lines

However, this repetition - combined with a reduction in collagen and elastin production that naturally occurs with age - will eventually result in deeper lines over time. If left untreated, they will become ‘static wrinkles’. Static wrinkles remain on the face even when our muscles are relaxed and usually get worse with age. They can also develop due to your facial structure or from loss of volume over time.

Static wrinkles include:

  • Around the mouth

  • Jowls

  • Nasolabial folds

These deep wrinkles can make you look significantly older and are more difficult to treat. This is why treating lines while they are still dynamic is key!

Treatment options

Most clients begin with anti-wrinkle injections to treat dynamic lines across the forehead and around the eyes. Anti-wrinkle injections work by reducing muscle movement to prevent lines from deepening. This treatment is fully customisable and does not leave you expressionless! The range of movement is simply reduced in the area. Results are temporary and re-treatment is usually recommended every 3-6 months to maintain the effect.

For dynamic wrinkles, dermal filler is often used to smooth the appearance. This involves injecting the gel-like substance made from hyaluronic acid into the skin to ‘fill in’ the lines. Depending on the product used, dermal filler can hydrate the skin and can even stimulate collagen production for a healthy, more youthful glow. Dermal filler can be used as soon as static wrinkles begin to form to counteract their development.

Dermal filler can also be used to maintain volume across the face. As we age, the fat pads in our skin deteriorate meaning our lips and cheeks can appear to sag. This treatment helps to maintain a plump, youthful look. For those looking for natural results, we can ensure we only replace the volume that has been lost, rather than add extra volume to enhance your features. The result is simply a younger-looking you!
